Clinical Nurse Specialist
Skin Cancer Detection
I began my nursing career in Burns and Plastics, where I developed a strong foundation in skin health, wound care, and compassionate, patient-centred practice. In 2021, I transitioned into skin cancer medicine at a dedicated clinic in Upper Hutt — and I’ve never looked back.
Since then, I’ve completed my Advanced Certificate of Dermoscopy (with Distinction), sitting the same exams suggested to GP’s entering the skin cancer field. At the time, I was one of just seven candidates in New Zealand — six were doctors, and the seventh was me. This achievement reflects not only my dedication to excellence, but also ensures you're in exceptionally safe and skilled hands.
I’ve also gained my Community Nurse Prescribing Qualification and completed my Expert Nursing Portfolio, further strengthening my ability to provide effective and safe care.
As a local to the Hutt Valley, I’ve been screening our community — and the wider region — for several years, and I’m passionate about continuing to make this service accessible to the people who need it most. Whether it’s early detection or ongoing care, I’m here to support the skin health of our region with empathy, expertise, and consistency.

General Practitioner in primary care skin cancer and surgery
I am a primary care skin cancer doctor with advanced training in skin cancer medicine and surgery. After completing my medical degree at the University of Otago, I went on to gain Fellowship with both the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. In 2017, I became a Fellow of the Skin Cancer College Australasia, and I am currently undertaking the Advanced Certificate of General Dermatology through Dermatology Australasia to further broaden my expertise.
For the past 10 years, I have worked exclusively in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer across New Zealand and Australia. My clinical interests include early melanoma detection and skin cancer surgery.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in education and leadership within the Skin Cancer College Australasia. I serve as a Censor, I teach at the College’s Advanced Surgical Workshop, and I sit on the Teaching & Learning Committee. I have also co-authored several peer-reviewed papers in the areas of melanoma and skin cancer surgery.
I am passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based skin cancer care, and I take pride in offering patients a thorough, compassionate, and expert service.

With a strong background in care-focused roles, I bring valuable people-focused skills to my position as a Medical Receptionist. I am highly organised, confident in managing busy environments and take pride in delivering every task with empathy, compassion and respect for our patients.
I hold a Certificate in Privacy and Confidentiality, as well as a current New Zealand First Aid Certificate. These qualifications support my commitment to ensuring every patient feels safe, supported and well cared for from the moment they arrive.
As a lifelong Hutt Valley resident, I’m incredibly proud to be part of a service that plays such a vital role in caring for our community.
